It’s important to avoid sleeping on areas where Botox has been injected. Controlling how you sleep is challenging, especially if you’re used to sleeping in a certain way. However, if your procedure involved having Botox in the face, you should sleep on your back.

Botox requires time to settle into your muscles and lying on your face may prevent this. The good news is that you only need to avoid sleeping on your face for one night!

It’s natural to suffer with slight redness or swelling after Botox, but this resides within an hour.

Skincare and Makeup Post Botox Instructions

If you’re wondering if you can wear makeup immediately after Botox, you’re in luck!

Yes, you can wear minimal makeup, although you should only apply very slight pressure to your face.

You can continue to apply your regular skincare routine after Botox. However, we suggest not applying pressure or heavily touching your face. Ideally, avoid touching your face for 24 hours after your treatment.

Use tepid water and a gentle cleanser to wash your face for 72 hours after treatment and gently pat dry.

Your skin may feel drier than usual after Botox. Use a hyaluronic acid serum to restore moisture levels back to normal.

As facials involve rubbing and massaging the face, we recommend delaying professional facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after Botox.

What Not to Do After Botox and What to Avoid After Botox

  • Avoid alcohol and painkillers

If you’re thinking of drinking alcohol after Botox, it’s best to avoid it. You also need to avoid taking painkillers too.

The problem with using painkillers or drinking alcohol after Botox is that these both thin the blood, which can cause any bruising from your Botox to worsen.

Bruising is common after having Botox, but doing everything in your power to reduce any side effects is important. If you’re planning an evening out, it may be best to wait a few days.

  • Avoid physical exercise

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after your Botox procedure to partake in any physical exercise.

It’s possible that you could bruise yourself when participating in physical fitness, especially if you accidently catch your face during a workout.

Waiting a couple of days to exercise after undergoing a Botox procedure ensures your face is protected. While we know its highly unlikely that you’re going to fall flat on your face during physical activity, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

  • Avoid heat exposure

Sunbathing or exposing yourself to intense heat should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid touching your face or massaging the treatment area

It’s tempting to want to feel your face after a Botox treatment, but touching can affect the results of your procedure.

We take great care to ensure the administering of Botox is accurate. As Botox is a procedure which numbs your facial muscles to prevent sagging, it’s essential to leave it alone to work its magic.

Touching your face may move the Botox to other areas of the face, and that will affect the success of your treatment.

We suggest not touching your face for at least 24 hours after having Botox.

  • Avoid wearing tight headwear

After having Botox in your forehead, avoid wearing anything which may fit tightly across your forehead, such as a hat or headband.

What to Know About Laying Down After Botox

It’s essential to avoid laying down after Botox for four hours. This prevents putting pressure on areas of treatment, allowing it to diffuse correctly into your muscles.

Keep upright for the first few hours after having Botox, avoiding any activity which may cause you to place your head upside down, such as shoe shopping.

If you plan on traveling after Botox, the good news is that you can fly without any worries! Changes in cabin pressure or altitude have no negative effect on Botox. Just remember not to lie down in your seat for four hours after your procedure.
