Lip Fillers

Natural Lip Filler for Plump, Luscious Lips

We lose volume in our lips as we age due to collagen loss. Collagen gives lips their full, plump look, and as we get older, our bodies produce less of it. Spending a lot of time in the sun also causes lips to become thinner. Years of exposure to ultraviolet rays breaks down collagen in your lips. Restore your lips’ youthful fullness with a lip filler treatment from MyBotoxLA.

A simple, outpatient procedure in our office can give your lips a fuller shape and even naturally boost collagen production. Hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in your body, plumps up your lips by attracting more moisture, It’s completely safe and has few side effects, it plumps up the lips naturally to give them a more attractive, even appearance. Injections usually wear off in eight to 12 months. Maintenance treatments are necessary to keep lips looking moist and full.

Are You a Good Candidate for Lip Augmentation?

The goal is to give you an even, attractive smile, one that adds to or complements your facial structure. Lip augmentation isn’t about having comically large lips, as the procedure is often portrayed in the media. It’s about adding symmetry and volume to the lips.

Most people unsatisfied with the appearance of their lips can benefit from a this treatment.

You’re probably a good candidate for lip augmentation if you:

  • Want fuller, more attractive lips
  • Have uneven lips (a thin upper or bottom lip)
  • Have thin lips that disappear when you smile
  • Need fuller or shapelier lips to balance your facial symmetry

The hyaluronic acid fillers used for lip treatment are so similar to the HA in your body tissues, there’s no need for a sensitivity or allergy test before the procedure.

What Lip Enhancement Treatments Can Do For You

A lip filler does more than increase volume. It can define the natural contours of the upper and lower lip for a more pronounced Cupid’s bow. If the demarcation between your lip and the normal skin surrounding it (called the vermillion border) is weak, treating the area with filler will clarify it. The HA treatment can elevate the corners of your mouth, eliminating an angry or sad look when your mouth is down turned.

Advantages of Fillers

After injection into the lips, hyaluronic acid naturally shapes lip tissues. The amount of filler can easily be controlled by our medical staff, so you always get just the right amount of volume for your lips and face shape.

If desired, the filler can be administered over more than one appointment to gradually increase the size and shapes of the lips.

Lumps and bumps caused by lip movements can be easily dissolved, without any discomfort.

Allergic reactions are rare, since hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body.

Restylane and Juvederm are the two most common volumizing lip treatments today.

Outpatient Treatment for Fuller Lips

A topical anesthetic cream may be applied to your skin 30 minutes before your appointment to minimize discomfort. A numbing cream also temporarily constricts blood vessels to reduce bruising at the injection site. Some lip treatment solutions have Lidocaine added to the solution, so there’s no need for an extra numbing agent.

Our medical staff marks the treatment area, and then uses a fine needle to inject the solution into your lips. You may feel a slight pinch when the needle is inserted, but the short treatment is mostly pain-free. The creases surrounding your lips can also be filled to maintain smoothness and continuity. This treatment allows our medical staff to shape and volumize your lips to enhance your features.

The treatment takes between 15-30 minutes, and there’s no recovery time. You’ll be able to return to work or other activities right after treatment.

Avoid intense exercise and limit sun exposure for 24 hours after treatment. You may also want to wait at least a few hours before applying makeup if the area is still tender.

It usually takes a few days to a few weeks for post-treatment side effects to stop before you can accurately assess the shape of your lips. After this, you’ll notice an improvement in the appearance of your lips. Most patients see full results at two weeks, though it may take longer.

  • Stiffness in the lips
  • Swelling or bruising lasting more than a week

Follow-up Treatments

You’ll need to visit our offices in two weeks for our medical aesthetician to check the progress of your treatment. Touch-ups or corrections, if needed, are performed at this time.

Most patients need one to four maintenance treatments to keep lips full and defined. The number of treatments depends on how quickly the filler wears off, and this differs from person to person.

If you don’t receive maintenance treatments, your lips will return to their original shape and volume once the initial filler has dissolved.
