Skin Rejuvenation

Safe, Non-Invasive Treatments

Aging, sun damage, environmental pollutants, dry skin and other factors cause your skin to lose its elasticity. Using over-the-counter skincare products offer some help, but they aren’t potent enough to give you the skin rejuvenation you need. At MyBotoxLA, we provide several non-invasive treatments for sagging, dry or aging skin, including radiofrequency (RF) energy treatments and chemical peels.

You may develop wrinkles, lines, uneven pigmentation or other problems as early as your mid-30s, and these outpatient procedures offer a safe and effective way to smooth and tighten your skin.

Radiofrequency Energy Treatment

As we get older, out body’s collagen-producing abilities slow down, resulting in thinner, sagging skin. Radiofrequency (RF) treatments stimulate production to renew your skin, giving it a youthful glow. A radio-frequency treatment is conducted by our medical staff using a machine with a handpiece. The handpiece is applied to the face neck and may also be used to reduce cellulite and contour flabby stomachs loose skin on stomachs. Some RF treatment systems have four different settings, so the staff can adjust the treatment to each patient’s needs.

RF energy works to stimulate collagen already in your skin, which enhances further collagen production. After treatment, your skin’s elasticity improves. A radio frequency treatment rejuvenates loose or aging skin. Weeks and months after your treatment, collagen fibers still continue to contract, giving the skin on your face (or other treatment area), a firmer, smoother appearance.

Chemical Peels for Skin Renewal

A chemical peel is applied to the face (and sometimes to the neck, chest or back) to remove the top layer of damaged skin (called the epidermis) and reveal the fresh second layer of skin (the dermis). This gives your face a fresh start, with clear, glowing skin replacing damaged outer skin.

Chemical peels come in several formulas to treat different complexion problems. Peels may be used for skin rejuvenation if you have one or more of the following issues:

  • Aging Skin
  • Uneven Complexion
  • Dry Skin
  • Large Pores
  • Sun Spots and Pigmented Skin
  • Acne
  • Scars and Skin Damage

Regardless of the skin condition being treated, the chemical peel process is the same. After our medical staff examines your skin and selects the right peel formula, she’ll apply the solution to your face or other treatment area. The procedure usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. You may feel light stinging or burning when the peel is first applied, but other than that, a chemical peel is pain free. Your skin should feel numb after the first pass. Sensitive patients can bring a small fan with them or ask the staff to open a window to prevent further burning sensation.

You should wait a few hours before washing off certain peels. Some peels don’t need to be washed off; they will neutralize on their own. Ask your aesthetician for after care instructions.

When the treatment is finished, you’ll be able to go back to work or other normal activities. (Avoid any strenuous exercise or sun exposure on the day of the peel.)

Most people should have two or three chemical peels a year to maintain clear, tight skin. Patients with extremely damaged skin can have a chemical peel once a month for faster results.

What Happens During a Radiofrequency Energy Treatment?

On the day of your radiofrequency energy treatment, wash your face with an antibacterial soap and don’t wear any makeup. Make sure you drink plenty of water before and after the treatment to stay well-hydrated.

Performed on an outpatient basis in our office, a typical radiofrequency energy treatment takes 20 minutes. Your visit may be longer or shorter depending on the size and condition of the treatment area. Treatment for the face requires four to six passes of thermal heat. The tip of the RF machine’s handpiece cools the top layer of skin as the energy heats collagen fiber in the underlying skin layers.

Some patients describe the feeling of the handpiece over the skin as similar to a deep tissue massage. You may feel some heat as the handpiece passes over your skin, but not enough to be uncomfortable. The medical staff will apply a soothing gel to your face before treatment to keep the top layer of your skin cool.

You’ll notice skin tightening immediately after the procedure, but it’ll take about two months to see full results. Some patients made need a series of three to five treatments to see full results.

Most patients need maintenance treatments every four to six months.
